Holly Ridge Stables evolved from Ron and Elaine’s love of horses. Ron has been riding since he was six years old, and Elaine has been riding only a few years. They love Saddlebreds, but in recent years have come to love harness racing with Standardbreds.

Holly Ridge Stables has been involved in breeding Standardbreds for the past five years. One of Ron and Elaine’s dreams was to have one of their Standardbreds race in Lexington, Kentucky at The Red Mile. That dream was a reality in 2007 with “Ms. Great Georgette” who was born on the farm.

This is a dream come true for Ron and Elaine. It is exciting to see the stables full of beautiful, award winning horses and to interact with the dedicated riders who enjoy the Holly Ridge facilities.

Tom Gentile, Owner & Trainer

Originally from NYC, Tom Gentile has lived in North Carolina for over 30 years. He has been involved with horses since his childhood. He owned and operated his own boarding and training stable for 25 years. He has trained four world champions and won numerous State Championships. Tom has been involved in judging open breed horse shows.

Tom specializes in American Saddlebreds and trains various other breeds including Standardbreds, Thoroughbreds, Tennessee Walkers, Morgans, Hunters, Arabians and ponies. Tom has extensive knowledge of horses, horse care, training and teaching. He has cared for young and senior horses.

Tom teaches youth and adults to ride western, saddleseat, huntseat and driving.
